As a membership benefit, we award (2) $2,500.00 scholarships every year at our March Women of Achievement Event to a female high school senior or a full time college or trade school student, sponsored by a PWCNJ member firm or PWCNJ member individual.

Scholarship Criteria and Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, each candidate will be a female high school senior or a full time college or trade school student, from  New Jersey.

College student eligibility requirements: One completed semester in an accredited college.

Applicants are required to be enrolled to earn a degree or certificate in a construction related field.

Applicant are required to be sponsored by a PWCNJ member firm or individual.

About the PWC NJ Chapter Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship program is to provide a scholarship award to a high school senior or a current full-time college student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a construction related field.

Scholarship Committee

  • The PWC NJ Chapter will form a Scholarship Committee to oversee the Scholarship Program from funding to award.
  • A scholarship committee will be formed with no less than three PWC NJ Chapter members.
  • A scholarship committee chairperson will be appointed to lead the committee.
  • No member of the Scholarship Committee will be related to the applicant (i.e. immediate family member) or from the same PWC Member Company for which an applicant’s family is employed. Should this situation occur in any given year, the Scholarship Committee member can remain on the committee but will not participate in the selection process for that year.

Funding

  • A separate account will be established for the scholarship.
  • PWC NJ Board Members to determine allotment of scholarship.
    • Scholarship Committee to determine number of scholarships and amount of each scholarship to be award every year.
  • Funding Source
    • Woman of Achievement Event profits.
    • 50/50 ticket sales at various events.
  • To begin, for 2022 there will be two recipients of $2500.00
    • Further disbursements to be determined
    • Payments will be made directly to the school
    • Payment will cover tuition and/or books
    • Payment will not cover room and board

Application Form Development

  • Application form will be developed and maintained by Scholarship Committee
  • Final approval of form to be completed by PWCNJ Board
  • Application will be formed with the scholarship criteria
  • Applicants will be required to write an essay
    • Essay to explain why the student is a good candidate for the scholarship award

Promotion of Scholarship

  • Scholarship brochure to be created and sent to:
    • New Jersey high school and colleges
    • New Jersey colleges
    • PWCNJ Members
  • Brochure to be posted on PWC NJ Chapter website
  • Contact various industry student chapters such as ASCE or Women Engineers

Selection Process

  • Scholarship Committee to consider the following to determine award of candidate:
    • Financial need
    • Academic merit
    • Extracurricular activities such as activities, community involvement and employment
    • Essays
  • Scholarship Committee may select 3 applicants for interview
  • Interview will factor into award selection

Award Process

  • Scholarship Committee to determine candidate award by March
  • Award to be announced at Women of Achievement Award Event at the end of March
    • Selected applicants to be invited to Women of Achievement Award Event
  • Payment will be directly to the school
